@Yelda #ThePatient I was a little relieved that the psycho lady knew about my little sister. Now someone knew why I did such bad things. It is all because I don’t want anything to happen to her. That is why I keep her hidden forever until it is safe and there is no one to hurt her. I put myself in front whenever someone comes to hurt her and I am excited to meet my parents again.
Chacha said that they were dead. He would be pleased to know that they aren’t. When I reached home, chacha was on the phone. He had told me that I am not allowed to eavesdrop so I didn’t. I hid my share at my hiding place and started preparing chacha’s evening tea.
After he was finished with his call, he went back into his room. I brought him his tea and gave the leftover money to him. He asked me how my first day went. I said, “It was good. I found out something really interesting. My parents might be alive!! The psycho lady will help me find them!”
You are now reading the sixth chapter. Refer to Inflicted for a chapter-wise listing…
Chacha’s expression changed from bad to worse. He said, “So you don’t believe me? YOUR PARENTS ARE DEAD AND NOTHING WILL CHANGE THAT!!”
“But Chacha…,” I said, ” The psycho lady has got evidence that they are alive. She’ll help me.”
“Why did you go to that psycho lady when you were supposed to be on the street begging for me?”
“Because my employer asked me to go there.”
“Okay, you are leaving that job and you are going back to the street.”
“But why Chacha?”
“Because I said so.”
“But…”
“Did you just start another but sentence? What is wrong with you? I think you forgot yesterday’s punishment. I need to remind you your place again. Come close to me.”
“I don’t want to.”
“Still defying…”
Chacha stood up and walked to me. I froze with terror. He grabbed my nipples and pulled them hard. It hurt so bad that I came close to Chacha. Then he pulled my hair and with it my head faced the ceiling. Chacha came close to my face and whispered, “I think I need to teach you some manners again!”
I couldn’t believe he was doing this to me again. He tore off my clothes and molested me again. He left me crying in pain on the floor.
I cried myself to sleep on that cold floor. When I woke up next morning, I was tied to Chacha’s bed I was still naked. I tried to break free but I couldn’t. Chacha came in.
“You are not going anywhere today”, he said, “I still have to teach you a lesson.”
“No… Chacha… please… I learnt my lesson yesterday… I won’t go there… That’s a promise!”
“No you didn’t! I’m not done with you yet.”
I closed my eyes as it was hard to watch. He hurt me, burnt me with his cigarette, molested me countless times, and made sure that I could feel everything. Each time I fainted with pain, he would throw ice water on me. I powered through all this with my eye on the prize. I had decided then and there that I have had enough of this. Now I would run away and live with my employers. I was sure that that house had a servant quarter. I was just waiting for that opportunity.
The Sweet Escape
It was evening time and Chacha got a call. He took the phone in the other room. This was my chance. The knot on the rope had become weak and I could easily get my hands out. I quickly got out and wore whatever I could find to cover my body. I took out all the money from my hiding place and ran out of the house as fast as I could. This was because I was certain that Chacha didn’t see me. I ran straight to the Randhawa house and rang the bell. Gurpreet answered the door. She looked worried but as soon as she saw me, she was relieved.
“Where were you in the morning?” she asked.
I couldn’t say anything. I just burst into tears. She ushered me in. I managed to get out a few words. “Can I stay here and work here 24/7?”
“Yes, of course! We would love that!”
She took me to the servant quarter and gave me a pillow and a bedsheet to put on the single bed there. She also brought some old worn off clothes that fit me perfectly. “Get dressed for dinner” she said and she left the room.
She’s so kind, I thought. I finally have a way to find my parents and I am finally away from that monster.
