There are many haunted places in the world but the most haunted place on earth is The New House Crematory. It may just be an urban legend or there may be some truth behind it but after reading the story of this crematorium, no one would want to go here.
There are two most common ways to say goodbye to a departed individual. People either bury their dead or incinerate them with wood and fire. The government sanctioned crematorium and burial ground in East Delhi had facilities for both these rituals.
This tale is not for the faint hearted but if you love true horror stories, you are in for a treat. Not sure how much of it is true, but someone told it to me and he believed it to be true. So happy Halloween and enjoy a night at bhangarh fort. Do tell me if you liked it!
Benedict Thorburn and a group of his friends were out for a camping weekend after a long hard year of meetings and presentations. Every year, he and his friends Becky Fassbender, Rajat Rathod, Sanya Singhania and Gurveer Singh Sethi, went out for camping in the nearby woods to get away from their fast paced lives. This year, Gurveer had suggested a camping in Alwar, Rajasthan. The reason for his suggestion was simple. He didn’t want to travel for long and he wanted a quiet and uneventful getaway from his life. Others agreed and decided to camp at Vanaashrya Camping Resort.
Happy Halloween! This year’s halloween special is a horror adventure that has three friends who decide to have a night out at a haunted village in India by lying to their parents about their whereabouts. They visit a lot of places that are said to be haunted and needless to say that they run into trouble. Hope you enjoy their story. I certainly enjoyed writing it.
(Disclaimer: Story is not based on true events but certainly is inspired by true events.)
31st December, 2013: New Year’s eve is such a joyous occasion maybe that is why the three wicked friends Nitin, Pranav and Daksh decided to have their first night out road trip. They lived in the small city of Rudrapur and never got much of a chance to roam the streets at night. They decided to trick their parents making them think that they were having a night out at each other’s homes. Then on Daksh’s bike and Nitin’s scooty, the three of them were all set to have a road trip all night.
Today’s story is about the most haunted house in India. The house is so haunted that the ghost murders people who live in it. But in this fictional story, the ghost has started liking someone. It has been a long time since I have written a horror story. As today is Halloween I decided I would write one. Okay so this is also kind of a true story. I’ll add a few extra touches to make it fictional but most of it is true. This was something my good old south Indian friend faced. I’ll be telling this story in his narrative. So here it begins…
Being a lonely introvert child was scary for me. I used to hang out alone while others played in the playground. I had no friends. My parents were a little orthodox and they scolded me when I told them about my problem of being scared of talking to people. I got scared to talk to them too. I used to spend most of my time in the bedroom.
I was about thirteen years old when I met my first friend. We had moved to a new place in Mumbai, India due to my father’s job posting. My first friend called herself Chandini. I met her in my sleep, the first night we shifted to the new place. She came to me and asked me my name. I told her my name was Ashwini. She praised the sweetness of my name. I smiled and looked at her. Her face was covered in blisters. I immediately stepped back in fear.
She got sad. She said, “An accident occurred which made my beautiful face into this hideous one.” I realised that the blisters were forming some kind of cartoon character I used to love at that age and that attracted me to her. I told her about this and she started smiling again. She took me to the playground and I played with her all the games in the ground. We played all night. I was under the impression that all this was a dream until the morning.
In the morning, I felt my worried parents lifting me from a totally burnt society playground as I woke up. I was confused how I got there and so were my parents. Suddenly a local walked in and asked my parents what happened. After he had heard all the facts, he warned my parents about a poltergeist who was residing in their house. They were orthodox but they were the people who believed in facts and not in the supernatural. They dismissed the local who they thought was trying to scare them away from their new home and took me back home. I was scolded back at home for behaving in such a manner.
Chandini came in my dreams that night too. She wanted to go to the playground and play and I said that my parents have forbidden me to go to the playground. She said that she would bring me back home before morning and I agreed to go. We played in the playground and as promised she brought me back home after some time. Then we talked to each other.
Suddenly I heard loud thuds coming from my parents room. I turned to Chandini and she was scared out of wits. I asked her what happened. She said that it was her dad that was making this noise. Her dad was very scary. Her dad and mom killed each other after the accident and they blamed Chandini for their deaths. Chandini vanished as the thudding stopped and footsteps could be heard across the hall walking closing in on my bedroom door.
I took cover under my blanket. The room went completely dark. I couldn’t see anything that is why I was very scared. I heard my bedroom door opening slowly making that shrieking sound that it makes. Somebody with loud breathing walked in. That person came very close to the bed.
Suddenly he vanished and the light was restored. I removed my blanket to find my room totally empty. I looked around. Then I don’t know why but I decided to check under my bed too. It was really dark under there but I could hear faint breathing coming from down there. Immediately after I heard the breathing a bloody hand appeared from under there and pulled me down the bed. I wanted to scream but I couldn’t. It was dark and the breathing was right in front of me. Out of nowhere two faces appeared looking at me. They screamed three consecutive words again and again.
You Killed Us!!!
I tried to crawl out from under the bed but they were holding my legs. I screamed and my mom walked in my room switching on the light. The leg pulling and screaming stopped. My mother asked what happened and I told her everything about Chandini and her parents. She categorized it as night terrors and told me that they were not real but I could see Chandini standing right next to my mother. I tried to tell her that she was right there but she wouldn’t believe me. She tucked me into sleep and went back to bed.
The next day my mom and dad started acting strange. They were talking to each other in Marathi, the native language of Mumbai. I went and sat down on the table and saw Marathi folk food as breakfast. They gave me a girl dress to wear to school that day and they kept calling me Chandini. I refused to wear it and ran away from them. I went to school.
It was the third day at school and a girl named Raksha came and sat down next to me. She shook hands with me and introduced herself. She was polite and kind hearted too. We talked at school that day. After school, she invited me to play with her in the playground. While I was playing with her, her nose started bleeding.
I told her that her nose was bleeding. Suddenly her head started aching a lot. I asked her what happened and she got under the impression that I was doing all this so she ran away from me after calling me a freak. That was rude. How could I do this to her? Suddenly Chandini appeared and sat on the opposite end of the see-saw and started playing with me. She said that she was my friend and she did not want anyone else being my friend. She would kill Raksha if she hanged out with me next time. I got too scared.
When I reached home, my parents started playing Marathi songs and were dancing on them together. I went straight into my room. Chandini came to my room and said that my parents were not my parents anymore. They were her parents and they need to leave or they would kill me. I didn’t know what to do. That night I was sound asleep when out of the dark my parents appeared. Their eyes were glowing red and they had shaving blades in their hands. They started screaming.
You Killed Us!!!
I tried to stop them but they were very strong. They slit each other’s wrists with the blade and kept screaming. I called the emergency number and hysterically explained what was happening. They thought I was prank calling them. They didn’t listen. I kept sitting on my bed silently watching my parents die right in front of me and I couldn’t do anything to help them. I was frozen. Chandini appeared and said that I was her’s and only her’s now. I stayed in the room with my parent’s bodies decaying in front of me for almost a week.
Me and Chandini used to play in the playground everyday. Then people started missing us. They came to the house to find my parents dead and they called the police. The police asked questions and I told them everything and after their own investigation, they declared that I killed my own parents. I was thrown in the hospital for the criminally insane for about five years and once I admitted my own guilt and accepted the fact that I was the one who killed my parents and not some Chandini and her parent’s ghosts, I was allowed to leave and transferred to an orphanage till I was the age of an adult.
The Truth
For the rest of my life, I was an orphan and I got admission in a good school and now I am doing well for myself. Although I have fooled everyone that I had admitted my guilt but still somewhere deep down I still believe it was the ghosts who did it and this is because Chandini is still with me and I love her.
Hope you enjoyed this year’s Halloween Special. Next year would be even better… Stay tuned…
This halloween story is about the most haunted place in world I have been to and the best one amongst haunted places in Nainital. I did add some masala to make it into a fictional story but it is mostly true. Make sure to check this place out. Before I begin with this story I would like to tell the readers that I found a completely extirpated house in Naukuchiataal, a place near Nainital. I’m not sure whether it still exists.
I went in with my friends to have a look at that place. It only had a fireplace with a big photo on the wall behind it stable. The other walls were down on the floor. All the expensive artifacts of the house were still in place. No one had stolen them. I found that creepy. As we took one step closer to the fireplace, a local shouted towards us warning us about the place being possessed or something.
