The Paradox-Find the key

Next thing I remember I was in my own memories. It was like a matrix or something. I was reliving all my memories. Suddenly the most unwanted person of my life whom I regret meeting to came in front of me. You know I’m talking about the one and only bitch. I’m going to kill that girl the first chance I get. She said, “Find the key to get out.” and she vanished.

I could not make out what she was trying to say. It was definitely a clue. Find the key? What key? Key to my locker room when I was in the high school? Was it the key to my car in which I lost my virginity? I had to find the key before the timer runs out and the worst part was I could not see how much time was left!

Right now I was with my prom date (the one I lost my virginity with). I could see the moment arriving. We were going towards my grandfather’s ’67 Impala. Holding my hand she took me into the back seat. I had the keys in my pocket. We had a wonderful time. I felt every little  sensation I had that day.

The first time is always amazing even for a boy. I remember I gave her the keys and next day I came to know that she died. Now I could change that just for my sake. I said, “Sorry darling, but it’s my grandfather’s car he’ll kill me!” She angrily went away. I had the key.

Now I time traveled to the time when one of my friends stole my vault’s only key just as a prank. I punched him on his face as I knew and took the key from him. The last key was my swiss bank key and I time travelled to that time. I was walking down the road which led to the Swiss Bank and went straight to my executive and asked for a duplicate key to the high security vault I personally paid them to open for me. He said, “I need some verification sir.”

I gave him what he wanted. He handed over the key in no time. Now I vanished and was standing in the middle of a black void. No one around me just a red light which showed me that I was in a small space. A voice said, “Choose one key which will open the door. If  you choose the wrong key you lose a life.”

I fortunately had one extra life. I went with the Swiss Bank’s vault key first. A voice said, “One life remaining.”

The Final Choice

I could hear my heart beating like a machine gun. I thought of the key to my car. Because it was the odd one out. But then it was possible the boss had a twist. Who knows? I kept the keys on the floor, closed my eyes and shuffled them well. I picked up a key and used it to open the lock. And I was correct! It was the car key. Now I entered a bright room with king size windows. I was at the 127th floor of the tallest building in the world, The Bhurj Khalifa… It was the final round… The round against the boss…. I was definitely gonna lose…

The Paradox- Library Round

Before I could blink my eye, I had a butt-load of books in my hand and I was walking towards a table. Instinctively I kept the books on the table. The girl appeared in front of me. She said, “Find the oldest Bible in the library in 20 seconds.” She vanished after giving me a heart attack.

It was impossible to locate a 1000 year old book from a library which had over a million books. Instinctively I ran towards the librarian. He said, “We don’t keep old books at display. Follow me.” He took me through a narrow passage and we reached a big room full of old books. He slowly started checking each book not ruining the cover of any book.  I had very less time.

I knocked him out and threw every book on the ground and then hurriedly searched for the oldest book. There it was lying innocently alone in the dark side of the room. Fortunately my eyes caught it. I ran towards the book and after holding it I said loudly, “I found it.” The timer did not stop.

The correct choice

I checked the book. It read re-published. I was shocked. With less than 5 seconds left on the clock I went for the last try. I hurriedly went through the book shelves. All of them were empty. One of them looked pretty old and broken. I ran towards it and smashed it with one of the books. Inside there was an old book. With a sigh of relief I pulled it out and said, “I did it.” The timer stopped with 1 second remaining.

A voice said, “Well done, you’ve won this level. Level up!” I vanished again…

The Paradox- The Unending Staircase round

After the hospital round I was at the unending staircase round. I had played this one before. This one would be easy but again I was sure that the boss had changed the round. The bitch suddenly appeared. She had a baby, a bacon, a beer, and a bread. She said, “Choose wisely.” Read more

The Paradox- The Hospital round

I was escorted into a dimly lit room. People in the room started leaving. I was injured badly. My head was spinning. I could see two of everything. I told myself to focus and I started looking for clues. My surroundings hinted that I was in a hospital.

There was an operating table beside me. Now I understood where the dim light was coming from. I was in an operating room. Those doctors were going to operate on me. A nurse came in. I recognized her on the first look.  She was the same bitch that put me back in here. Read more

Paradox – The first level

I have to do this all over again. I thought it was going to be as simple as before but somewhere inside me I knew that the boss may have changed the rules and game play. When the boss had flipped his fingers I was standing in front of the empire state building.

I kept on walking as I did last time. There was an unattended phone booth. It was ringing. It was possible that it was for me. I went there and picked it up. As soon as I did that a countdown began. I had 10 seconds to do something but what?

The 10 seconds flew off in no time and the screen of the phone booth read, ‘You made the wrong choice kiddo.’ Suddenly my eye caught a glimpse of a fire starting near the booth and the booth was vibrating. Before I could move my legs, the phone booth blew off into pieces with me in it. I still remember the excruciating pain.

Now I was on level 1. The game had begun. If I made the right choice in the beginning I would’ve won the game before it even began. I could see vague shapes carrying me and a light coming and going again and again. Where was I?
